Julie grew up in Northern California, where most of her family members still reside. She went to UCLA as an undergraduate majoring in Environmental Sciences. Julie then joined Teach for America and was assigned to Long Beach, California. She served five years as a second-grade teacher at Addams Elementary School while obtaining her credential and master's degree in literacy from Loyola Marymount University. She then transferred to Lincoln Elementary. After two more years as a primary grade teacher, Julie served as a literacy coach for her school. She joined Olive Grove Elementary School in Antelope, California, as a Title I specialist before expanding her coaching responsibilities to additional schools in the district. Julie is currently seeking permanent employment to utilize her skills and experiences.
Carson is the newest Tsai. Born in 2007, he now attends pre-school and enjoys being the more outspoken member of the family.
George spent most of his childhood in Barstow, California. He attended UCLA, eventually earning his B.A. in Art. After several months of substitute teaching, he was picked up by Long Beach's Washington Middle School. George served five years as a humanities teacher and then in Washington's computer labs. He then became a technology instructor at Cubberley K-8 School. He completed a master's degree in administration at CSUDH, served as assistant principal for Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District's Antelope Crossing Middle School, and is now principal of the district's newest middle school.

Julie and George first met while working in UCLA's Campus Events Commission. Their romance began with a 1995 "dare" kiss. George shocked Julie with a surprise engagement party, the same time Julie thought she was throwing George a surprise birthday party. The two wed in 2000. They have since enjoyed travel, the joys of home ownership, and time with friends and family.

Jaden, born in 2004, added joy and warmth to the Tsai household. He amazes his parents with his sense of humor, development, and interactions. He brings his goofiness and talents to his new kindergarten class.
